Possibly the best fluking day of the season with over 50 keepers on the boat. We started the morning fishing the far western side of the bay where we caught the last hour of the incoming tide. We had some good fishing, but the best was yet to come. On the change of tide, we made a move to the western end of the Reach Channel in preparation for the beginning of the outgoing water. Once we got some movement, the fluke attack was on. We had anywhere from 3 to 5 fish on at all times. Joe Illuzzi, Edison, NJ put 5 fish in his cooler on this drift. As far as fluking goes, it doesn't get any better. (Actually, all keepers would have been better, but I'm not complaining.) When we finally lost the bite, we had drifted 3 hours and covered 2.5 miles of bottom, catching fish the entire way. At the end of the day the fish added up. There were 3 people tied for high hook with 5 keepers, and a half dozen more people with 4 fish. Tom Pfister won today's pool with a 4 1/2 pound fluke. I have a feeling that today was the belated start to some quality fluke fishing for this 2009 season!!!
