Another day with big fish!!! We followed up yesterday's two 8 pounders with a 7, two 6's and a 5 pounder today. Started off the day with the last bit of incoming tide, and had a very light west wind. We fished the northern tip of Sandy Hook, and had very good fishing. Keepeing was another story. The keeper ratio that I talked about the other day was way down. We did manage a few keepers before the tide change. Around 10:00 we set up for the outgoing water. Went into the deep of the channel, where we had our best fishing yesterday, and caught the fish good. Still, the keeper ratio was down. However, we did catch some big Fluke too. Don Cutrupi started it off with a fish around 6 pounds. He was followed up by our friend Lonnie, Matawan, NJ, who caught a 7 pound Fluke, and Kevin Meskill had a 6 pound fish as well. Around noon we had a wind shift to the south east, and it made for some difficult conditions again. Moved inside the hook, and finished the day around the Coast Guard Station, where we had a pick of shorts, some keepers, and everyone's favorite fish, the Sea Robin. Overall it was a good day of fishing. Today's high hook was Patrick Strang, Keyport, NJ, who had 5 keepers.
