Friday, 6/8/07 Report

 IMG_3136aq.jpg

Steve Kerry, Jay Tomlinson, and Gary Thompson holding a few fish from their catch today. All three fish were over 4 pounds, and Jay's was the largest on the boat for today's trip. The three of them combined for 10 keeper Fluke on the day.

Started the day at the tip of Sandy Hook, and caught fish immediately. Alot of shorts, and Sea Robins, but we did have some pretty good shots of keepers too. The action was good all day, but most of it was Sea Robins. If you could keep you bait in the water long enough without a Robin taking your hook, you would catch a Fluke. There are alot of fish in that area to be caught, and quite a few nice sized ones. We had four Fluke on the boat today that were over 4 pounds. Jay Tomlinson, Union, NJ, won today's pool with a 4 1/2 pound fish. Jay also had 4 keepers. We finished the day around the TC Buoy, and had a pick of shorts and a few keepers mixed in. Fishing has improved every day since the storm on Monday. Good signs for the weekend.

Nice picture, but the "play of the day" was first mate and web author Lou's great grab of the pool winner after the hook broke! 3 stabs and about two toes on the deck. Nice Save!

Go Yanks!
